Racist Police?

A report released today by the Commons Home Affairs Committee declared that there still exists in the British Police Force (I won't use 'service') racism.

The chairman of the committee - MP (disgraced of course - aren't they all?) Keith Vaz - commented on the 'blatantly disproportionate representation of particularly black people in the criminal justice system regarding numbers held on the DNA database'. (I paraphrase).

I'm sorry for pointing out the bleeding obvious but isn't there such a blatantly disproportionate representation of particularly black people in the criminal justice system regarding numbers held on the DNA database because particularly black people are disproportionately criminal?

This is a fact. For whatever reasons. But this is a fact. Proportionately black people commit more (many more) crimes than white people so there are going to be proportionately more of them on the criminal DNA database.

It's not racist to point this out.

What does Vaz want the police to do - let black people off crimes so as to balance things?

Probably.

European Court Gets tough with Jamaican Criminal

A Jamaican convicted criminal who fathered four children by four different women in Britain has lost his legal battle against deportation.
Joseph Grant, who spent 34 years in Britain, argued the decision breached his right to a private family life.
The 48-year-old was deported after a string of convictions for drug offences, violence, theft and robbery.
On Thursday, the European Court of Human Rights ruled his deportation had been 'proportionate and necessary in a democratic society' given his long pattern of offending.

A convicted criminal, with many illegitimate children - and a Jamaican to boot - got kicked out of the country (that in itself is shocking enough nowadays), but he appealed to the European Court of Human Rights - and lost!!!!!!!!!

Police Rocket Science

In the news today it's reported that 'The number of teenagers caught carrying knives has fallen in areas where police have specifically targeted knife crime, according to government figures'.

Never. What a shock.

But isn't this what the police are supposed to do anyway?
Target criminals to reduce crime that is.

Rocket science it 'aint!

Car Thieves in This Area

Increasingly nowadays, in car parks mainly, I come across a sign that says something along the lines of this: 'Car thieves operate in this area'.

I beg your pardon?!

So the police know that car thieves operate in a certain area and instead of trying to catch them they put the onus on the potential victim by basically telling them to watch their backs.

What next? Rapists operate in this area? The potential list is endless.

This is a blase attitude by the police that just accepts that criminals will do their thing and that's that.

I get the feeling that if your car WAS nicked from one of these areas and you told the police they'd just say 'well we did warn you!'

The police should put signs up saying 'Car thieves - we know you operate in this area - we will catch you and then cut your hands off'.

Well maybe not 'cut your hands off' but you get the idea.

The police are becoming a criminal appeasing joke.
