On a BBC radio news report today it was announced that Zavvi and EON were laying people off.At the end of the report it was announced that the aforementioned people had been 'advised to seek financial help at their local Job Centres'!
Wow! What a very convoluted new labour way of telling people who've just lost their jobs the obvious - 'sign on'!

I wonder if employees working at the jobcentre ever gloat: Ha ha I've got a job and you haven't? When I was on the dole for two weeks a long time ago, from their mannerisms and nonchalance it certainly felt like they wanted to say that....
The sign on generation is in full swing.
