Bloody Neanderthals! In some parts of Africa 'witches' are recognised as healers and are respected. I think what happens in these communities is the result of a twisted form of Christianity related to the Malleus Maleficarum. I met a man from The Gambia some years ago who had come to live in England; it was rather funny, as he brought hid friend around one day and said "She is like our local Witchdoctor back home". I was rather bemused by this description at the time. Later I found out that he was dealing in crack cocaine and he became frightened of me because of my disapproval. Anyway he stopped dealing and took great pains to prove to me that he had stopped his 'antisocial behaviour' LOL.
